Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, a member of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance bipartisan team, has implored upon his party leader the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to push for tax cuts after the National Dialogue Committee failed to agree on fuel VAT and housing levy.

In their statement, the team that was led by the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the Majority leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah said that the team did not agree to reduce fuel VAT from 16 per cent to 8 per cent, and scrap off the 1.5 per cent housing levy.

Speaking in Nyamira County when Raila was launching the ODM recruitment drive, Omogeni said should President William Ruto fail to listen too the ODM boss on reducing the cost of living, then the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya wing should resume demos.

He further claimed that the Kisii Community has suffered and sidelined in Ruto’s government, saying the best thing is to unite, register as ODM members, register as voters and turn out in large numbers in 2027 to send Ruto and his government home.

“We should send Ruto and his people home in 2027. Baba we are waiting for the signal.”

“When you will go to review the recommendations we have fronted and the entire report on what we talked about, we have said ensure that you talk about VAT on fuel and matters housing.”

“Baba, if those people do not listen to you, as your people we are ready to be given the signal so that we can come back to the people,” said Omogeni,
