The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a series of temporary job openings as it prepares for the upcoming by-elections across the country. Positions available include Ward-Based and Constituency Voter Educators, Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers, Support Electoral Trainers (SET), as well as Polling and Counting Clerks.

The commission has set the deadline for applications on April 4, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Wages for these temporary roles vary, with Presiding Officers earning Ksh 2,000 per day, Deputy Presiding Officers Ksh 1,800 per day, Support Electoral Trainers Ksh 2,000 per day, and Polling and Counting Clerks Ksh 1,000 per day.

For Ward-Based and Constituency Voter Educators, applicants must hold a minimum Diploma in Social Sciences, Education, or Project Management. They should have at least three years’ experience in voter or civic education, community mobilization, or social work within the constituency they intend to serve.

Residency within the constituency is mandatory, along with fluency in the main language of communication. Candidates must demonstrate non-partisanship, a strong understanding of local socio-cultural and political dynamics, experience conducting voter education, and proven report writing skills.

Presiding and Deputy Presiding Officers must be Kenyan citizens of high integrity, with a Degree or Diploma from a recognized institution, computer literacy, strong communication skills, report writing abilities, and the capacity to manage people and sensitive election materials. They must be available for the entire exercise and reside in the constituency where they will serve.

Support Electoral Trainers (SET) should also meet similar requirements, including proven training skills, computer literacy, and availability throughout the exercise.

Polling and Counting Clerks must be Kenyan citizens of good character, non-partisan, hold at least a KCSE certificate with a C- aggregate, and be available for the entire exercise while residing in the constituency or Ward of application.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through the IEBC portal before the deadline.

This recruitment drive is part of IEBC’s efforts to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible electoral process for the upcoming by-elections.
