The ongoing impeachment trial of Kericho Governor Hon. Mutai has taken new twist as witness has revealed that he was given hefty promises if he proceeds to approve the motion of impeaching the Governor.
The witness who is a member of County Assembly of Kericho, Hon. Hillary Kibet has claimed that the motion mover, Hon. Kiprono promised him Ksh. 200,000 and a trip to Dubai.
Hillary was then asked by his colleague who is the motion mover to sign the affidavit and approve the impeachment of the Governor.
Governor Mutai is still battling for survival as his trial continues at the Senate where he is currently under trial over the charges issued against him by the Members of the County Assembly of Kericho county.
This is also his second impeachment after he survived the first impeachment attempt that was tabled before the Senate by the MCAs. The Governor however said that the move is just a political witch-hunt and that he is only being fought.
