The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Uganda General Muhoozi Kainerugamba has apologised to the United States over his previous remark where he declared that there would be no more cooperation between Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) and the United States of America embassy in Kampala.

This was based on the fact that the previous pronouncement that he had made when he declared the suspension was due to the fact that he was being misled with information.

He deleted the previous tweets and issued an apology on his X account on Friday, January 30, 2026, saying that he had discussed with the US Ambassador in Uganda and that the military collaboration would go on.

He has presented apologies to the United States without any reservations and assured that the tweets are now removed and the chapter ends on a conciliatory note.

On Friday, January 30, 2026, the son of the long serving leader of Uganda was stirring up some commotion on X after postings made on the platform.

He claimed that the US embassy in Kampala conspired with an opposition politician, Bobi Wine, to arrange his kidnapping by insisting that the information was informed by intelligence reports.

This is what Muhoozi used as the justification of ending all collaboration between the US embassy in Kampala and UPDF.

He also complained that the embassy bureaucrats have sabotaged the delicate security partnerships between the two nations over a period of over ten years, even though the political ties between Kampala and Washington DC were good.
