The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga caused laughter in an event attended by President William Ruto earlier today.
The two political foes turned friends were attending an event at State House Nairobi where President Ruto was presiding over the award of Riara University a charter.
During his speech, the former Prime Minister acknowledged that he knows many people were wondering why he had attended the event. This drew laughter from the attendees including President William Ruto.
Raila revealed that he is related as a friend and also through family ties to the Chancellor of the University.
Raila’s last born son, Raila Junior, has married the daughter of the chancellor of the Riara University. He went ahead to congratulate the Chancellor and his wife for his foresight in establishing such a remarkable educational institution.
During his speech, Odinga also confronted the government on the issue of the Higher Education Funding at a time when many are complaining about the problematic new funding model. He acknowledged that the new system is not serving comrades thus called for a quick solution to be sought.
