Treasury CS John Mbadi has spoken out following the tragic killing of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, describing the incident as heartbreaking and deeply troubling.
In a strongly worded statement, Mbadi said it is “very sad that we have lost a leader like Charles Were to the hands of criminals.” He expressed confidence that the law would eventually catch up with those responsible.
Mbadi revealed that he had spoken directly with President William Ruto regarding the matter. According to him, the President gave *stern instructions to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
While distancing himself from investigative roles, the CS hinted at a possible political motive behind the murder. “This is likely a political assassination; I am not an investigator, but I have very strong feelings about this,” he stated.
His remarks come amid growing calls for a thorough probe into the MP’s death, which shocked the nation. Police say the MP was killed in a targeted motorcycle ambush near the City Mortuary roundabout.
