Apostle Rhonda Royal Hatton has challenged traditional views on polygamy after revealing that she has two husbands, Maurice and Ian, whom she says have been part of her life for 35 years.
In a surprise announcement post shared on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the apostle described the two men as having different personalities but sharing one important quality, which is knowing how to handle her.
“Big announcement!! I can come out with it now finally! I have two husbands! Maurice and Ian! So much alike – I have a type, I’ve been told – but soooo different,” she wrote.
Hatton went on to describe the distinct roles the two men play in her life, portraying one as a reserved, scripture-loving preacher and the other as an outgoing, protective and supportive partner.
“One is the pretty boy, strong, silent theologian-type man who debates scripture – this one right here is my educated ‘iron sharpens iron’ preacher Prince in the Lord’s church,” she said.
She described the other as her “fine, aggressive, supporter, protector Black King”, adding that he was also her fraternity, party and “silly guy”.
“This one right here is my dance partner!” she added.
The apostle maintained that the two men understood her personality and had remained in the relationship for decades.
“They both know how to handle ME! We’ve been together for a mighty long time the three of us – 35 years of marriage, to be exact, so it’s apparent they handle me well!!” she wrote.
Rhonda on the responsibilities of a married man
Hatton also referenced the Bible in her post, citing a verse about the responsibilities of a married man.
“But he who is married cares about the things of the world, how he may please his wife,” she wrote, quoting 1 Corinthians 7:33.
Her revelation comes amid growing online conversations about unconventional marital arrangements involving religious figures.
Recently, Prophet Israel Ford of LifeWorks Church in Ohio attracted attention after publicly introducing Shakayla as his second wife alongside his wife, Lydia.
The announcement sparked debate among social media users, with the couple defending their arrangement as rooted in their interpretation of Scripture. Ford has also discussed the relationship during an interview with Larry Reid.
While Ford’s announcement involved a man with two wives, Hatton’s post describes a woman with two husbands. The two situations are distinct, and her post alone does not establish the legal status of the relationships she described.
