Philip Aroko

Tension continues to rise in Homa Bay County after the murder of Rangwe Member of Parliament Ong’ondo Were. One of the suspects, Philip Aroko, has come out to strongly deny any involvement in the killing, accusing Governor Gladys Wanga of being behind the incident.t

Speaking shortly after being summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Aroko claimed that he is innocent and has no connection to the crime. “I did not kill MP Ong’ondo Were. I am being framed because of politics. Governor Gladys Wanga is a thug who is using dirty tricks. The real killers are being paid by her county government,” he said.

Aroko further alleged that there is a wider plot to silence leaders who oppose the county government’s style of leadership. “Ong’ondo was a strong leader who spoke the truth. Now he is gone. I fear for my life,” he added.

The DCI has launched investigations into the murder, and several individuals are being questioned, including politicians and county officials. However, the police have not confirmed Aroko’s claims or provided any official link between the killing and Governor Wanga.

Meanwhile, Governor Wanga has not responded to the accusations. Her office has remained silent since the murder was reported. Supporters of both Ong’ondo and Wanga have taken to social media, expressing shock, anger, and demanding justice.

MP Ong’ondo Were was found dead under unclear circumstances last week. His death has sparked protests in parts of Homa Bay, with residents calling on the national government to take over the investigations.

As the probe continues, Kenyans are urging the authorities to act swiftly and ensure that justice is served. The country remains on edge as the political temperature in the region heats up.
