Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua held a high-energy political rally in Kagumo town, Kirinyaga County, drawing a massive crowd that filled the streets and surrounding areas. The strong turnout became the central message of the day, with Gachagua pointing to the sea of supporters as proof that his political influence in the region remains firm ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Addressing residents, Gachagua told the crowd that public support cannot be staged or manufactured, insisting that visible numbers reflect the true mood of the people. He urged those present to remain united and politically active, saying real change only comes when citizens consistently show up and make their voices heard.
The former Deputy President sharply criticised the current leadership, accusing it of failing ordinary Kenyans, especially farmers. He cited high production costs, low returns on farm produce, and the rising cost of living as issues that continue to burden families in agriculturally rich counties such as Kirinyaga.
Gachagua challenged residents to convert their frustrations into political action, arguing that elections are ultimately decided by turnout and collective resolve. He maintained that Mt Kenya’s strength lies in its population and unity, reminding supporters that leadership is shaped by those who participate.
The Kagumo rally comes amid heightened political activity in the region, with Gachagua’s tours often attracting large crowds and sparking debate. Photos from the event showed packed roads and energized supporters, reinforcing his message that, in politics, numbers truly do not lie.
