The family of the late Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were is set to receive his pension and other emoluments following his tragic death.

According to parliamentary guidelines, the family will receive pension benefits calculated based on the MP’s years of service. Since Were was serving his second term, his family qualifies for a substantial compensation package.

The pension will be processed through the Parliamentary Pensions Scheme, which caters to the welfare of lawmakers and their dependents. Besides the pension, the family will also receive other benefits, including gratuity and insurance payouts as per parliamentary regulations.

The Kenya National Assembly has confirmed that plans are underway to ensure the family is compensated promptly. This gesture is part of the government’s effort to support the bereaved family during this difficult period.

We are all awaiting for the family together with MP Were’s working mates to announce the date for the burial ceremony of the deceased MP.

It is high time now we join hands together and send our condolences to the family and friends of MP Were.
