New details have emerged on how renowned former world athlete Asbel Kiprop was allegedly dragged, robbed of an unknown amount of money, and left in confusion after enjoying what witnesses describe as good moments with a lady at a local joint in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
According to reports, the 1500 metres world athlete visited a drinking spot in Kapseret earlier in the day, where he was later seen spending time with friends.
During the gathering, Kiprop allegedly noticed a woman believed to have been at the club and approached her, before inviting her to join him.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the two spent time together as the atmosphere inside the venue remained lively, with Kiprop ordering multiple drinks for himself and the woman.go
The reports further claim that the drinking session continued until the woman, who had been with him, offered to escort Kiprop to his home.
After arriving at his residence, the athlete was reportedly helped inside, while the woman then requested to use the bathroom.
It is alleged that she went to shower, but investigators and people close to the matter believe the move was a planned distraction—allowing someone to rob Kiprop without him noticing in time.
The incident is said to have unfolded in stages. After the woman left the athlete to rest, Kiprop allegedly fell asleep.
When he later regained consciousness, he discovered that his money had been frozen or taken from him, and he was reportedly left unable to account for what had happened during the time he was asleep.
