Fresh details have emerged about the painful experience Festus Amimo’s mother went through after losing her husband, an ordeal she openly shared during her son’s burial in Awasi.

While addressing mourners, the grieving mother revealed that following her husband’s death, she was stripped of property and money by relatives, leaving her with nothing to support her children.She disclosed that Ksh 1.3 million was taken from her during that period, a loss that plunged her into hardship and shaped how she now views family and inheritance matters.

Drawing from that experience, she made a firm vow that she would never subject her daughter-in-law Rosie to the same suffering.

She assured mourners that she would not fight over money, land or any form of wealth left behind by her son.

Instead, she pledged unity, peace and mutual support, noting that Rosie had taken good care of her and treated her with respect and love.

The emotional declaration came as Festus Amimo was laid to rest at his rural home with leaders and members of the media fraternity in attendance.Several Orange Democratic Movement leaders attended the burial and paid tribute to the late broadcaster, acknowledging his contribution to community radio and public discourse.

Amimo, who served as head of Mayienga FM, collapsed and died on December 7, leaving his family, colleagues and listeners in shock.

His passing marked a significant loss in the local media space.

During the ceremony his mother also reflected on her son’s marriage, describing him as a devoted husband who stood by his wife despite challenges.

She noted that he kept his promise to provide for and protect his family until his final day.

Her message resonated deeply with mourners, highlighting themes of loss, forgiveness and the need to protect widows from further pain after bereavement.
