New information has come to light regarding the profound political mistrust that influenced the interactions among senior leaders during the tenure of former president Daniel arap Moi.
A report released by the Daily Nation has disclosed a clever tactic by the late Cyrus Jirongo, to avoid assassination whenever he shared drinks with the current Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi.
According to the report, each time Jirongo momentarily left the table when having drinks, he would come and request a new glass from the bartender before resuming his drinking.
This behavior is believed to have originated from Jirongo’s intense suspicion of those he thought were closely associated with Moi.
It happened at the time when Jirongo ditched Moi’s camp and associated himself with the opposition during Moi’s regime.
This connection is said to have revealed Jirongo’s mistrust during a period when he was apprehensive about political sabotage and state monitoring.
