Stephen Letoo Shares Heartbreak Over Missed Meeting with Johana Ng’eno Before Death
Journalist Stephen Letoo got emotional as he talked about the death of his good friend, MP Johana Ng’eno. He shared how a missed call changed everything.
Letoo explained that he was supposed to meet Ng’eno on the day of the accident. Ng’eno died in a helicopter crash in Nandi County.
Letoo’s phone was off, and by the time he tried to return the call, it was too late.
We were going to meet. I was going to join him at one of his events that day, Letoo said.
When I finally tried to call him, he was already in Endebess, being welcomed after helping with a rescue. Soon after, he passed away.”
Letoo said Ng’eno was more than just someone he worked with.
He was a friend who was always there. The loss still feels hard to believe.
He was real, wanted to do things, and wanted to help people, Letoo shared.
Ng’eno’s death brought back tough memories for Letoo when a video came out that the MP had posted just days before.
In the clip, Ng’eno is celebrating his wife’s birthday with his family, enjoying cake and laughing. He ends the video by saying, Live long.
For Letoo, the video shows a life with so much promise that ended too fast.
He did so much for people, even outside of his area, Letoo said. Kenya has lost a great leader, and I have lost a great friend.
