Private detective Jane Mugoh has strongly condemned the recent police raid at the home of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya. She said the operation appeared politically motivated and warned that such actions could damage public trust in law enforcement.
Speaking to journalists, Mugoh said, “Law enforcement must never be used to settle political scores. Raiding a sitting governor’s home without clear reasons raises serious questions.”
The raid took place earlier this week, with officers reportedly searching the governor’s residence for several hours. While details about what they were looking for remain unclear, the operation has sparked political debate, especially among Natembeya’s supporters.
Mugoh said police should be neutral and follow the law at all times. “We cannot allow the police to be turned into tools of intimidation. Today it’s Natembeya, tomorrow it could be anyone else,” she added.
She also warned the police to act professionally and avoid being dragged into political games. “If the police continue to allow themselves to be used for politics, they will lose the respect and cooperation of the public,” Mugoh said.
Governor Natembeya has not publicly spoken about the raid, but sources close to him say he was shocked by the action and sees it as an attempt to weaken him politically.
Jane Mugoh urged the government and the police service to ensure that all investigations are done fairly, with respect for the rights of individuals. She also called on leaders to stop using state agencies to fight personal or political battles.
“The law should serve justice, not politics,” she concluded.
The police are yet to issue an official statement on the purpose of the raid. However, political tensions in the region continue to rise as leaders demand transparency and accountability over the incident.
