Hellen Wambui

A family in Gatundu, Kiambu County, is in deep sorrow after their daughter, Hellen Wambui, was found dead.

The young college student went missing on Sunday, March 30, after leaving home for a short errand.

Her body was later discovered dumped in a nearby farm under unclear circumstances.

According to her mother, Wambui had gone to a nearby shop at around 5 PM.

She was expected to return quickly, but hours passed with no sign of her. By 7 PM, her phone was off, and she had not come back.

“I sent her to buy a few things. She told me, ‘Mum, I won’t be long.’ But she never returned,” said her grieving mother.

“I started calling her, but her phone was off. That’s when I knew something was wrong.”

As worry set in, the family alerted neighbors and began searching for her.

They shared her details widely on social media, hoping for any information.

Unfortunately, their worst fears were confirmed when her lifeless body was discovered in a nearby farm.

The cause of her death remains unknown as investigations continue.

Wambui’s tragic death has left the community in shock. Residents are now raising concerns about safety in the area.

Many feel that cases of insecurity have been increasing and are calling for urgent action.

“This is heartbreaking. A young girl with her whole future ahead of her is gone. Something must be done,” said a family friend.

Another resident added,

“We are no longer safe. These cases are becoming too common, and authorities must act fast.”
