Popular Kikuyu musician Gachathi wa Thuo is mourning the loss of his mother after announcing her death on social media.
The Mugithi artist shared the sad news in a Facebook post on Friday, September 18, 2026, paying tribute to his mother and wishing her peace in her final rest.
In a short but emotional message, Gachathi wrote, “MY MUM HAS RESTED,” followed by a Kikuyu message expressing his wish for his mother to rest peacefully.
The announcement prompted an outpouring of condolences from his fans, friends and followers, who sympathised with the musician and his family during the difficult period.
Several followers encouraged Gachathi to stay strong while praying for comfort and peace for the bereaved family.
Among those who sent messages of condolence was Wambui Wa Njihia, who wrote, “Pole Sana bro…Mungu awatie nguvu Na awape amani.”
Bonnie Tosh also expressed sympathy, saying she was sorry for Gachathi’s loss and wishing his mother eternal peace.
Other followers, including Mathew Mwangi and Stephen Njuguna, shared heartfelt condolences and prayers for the deceased.
Mwalimu David Maina reflected on the close relationship between Gachathi and his mother, saying she had left her son with blessings.
