Mellen Mogaka, a mother of two, has shared her painful experience in marriage after being attacked at her late husband’s funeral in Nyamira County. She revealed that her marriage to Osoro was filled with struggles, and their problems began when she became pregnant with their first child.
To avoid constant conflicts, Mellen and Osoro often lived separately. She stayed in Narok, where she worked as a nurse, while Osoro remained in Nyamira. Their relationship was unstable, but when Osoro fell ill, they reconnected. Mellen reached out to his family, and they eventually paid her dowry.
Despite their troubled past, Mellen stood by him during his illness, hoping for a better future together. She even assured him that if he recovered, they would have another child, which they did. However, after the birth of their second child, Osoro disappeared again and did not return for over a year.
Mellen expressed her pain, stating that she never truly enjoyed her marriage. She said Osoro never took responsibility for their children, leaving her parents to raise them. Despite his repeated absence and relationships with other women, she always welcomed him back out of love.
Following the attack at the funeral, Mellen’s father announced his decision to return the KSh 50,000 and two cows paid as dowry. He said their family was mistreated and no longer wanted any ties with Osoro’s relatives.
Mellen continues to recover from the injuries she sustained at the funeral. Her story reflects the challenges many women endure in marriage and the resilience they show in difficult times.
