Jack Odhiambo, a personal assistant of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has broken his silence on his last moments at his Capitol Hill office.

Odhiambo surprised many after coming out to speak on the incident months after the death of Raila. He disclosed the entire incident while on an interview on The People’s Bench podcast.

Odhiambo stated that he was the very last person that the late Raila ever contacted in his office in his last visit.

He narrated that as the late one was leaving the premises, he held his briefcase, and they both entered the lift to go down.

But as they were descending, Odhiambo narrates that Raila handed him Ksh100,000 and ordered him to give it to all the staff that were still present on the premises.

“When we reached the elevator, Baba asked if I had the key. Then he stopped at the elevator, opened his briefcase, and pulled out KSh 100,000. He handed it over and instructed me to share the money among everyone present. He gave the instruction in the Luo language,” Odhiambo stated.

He went on to reveal that Raila blessed the money by spitting on it, something that left him amazed.

“Before handing it over, he spat on the money, a gesture of blessing,” he added.

However, what Odhiambo did not expect was that it would be Raila’s very last visit and appearance on the office premises.

He confirmed that from that day onwards, Raila never returned again, and they were left surprised to hear that he was announced dead months later.
