Krimi

Kirimi, a 36-year-old inmate from Meru, is serving a long prison sentence that will keep him behind bars until 2039. According to Kirimi, his incarceration stems from a romantic relationship with a married woman — a decision he now regrets deeply.

In an interview with Inooro TV, Kirimi recounted how the affair began and ultimately led to his downfall. He claims that the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, would regularly visit his home for secret rendezvous. Kirimi explained that their relationship began consensually, and they were both aware of the risks involved. However, trouble struck when community members, including the local chief and the woman’s husband, caught them together in his house.

Kirimi alleges that the chief harbored a personal grudge against him and used the situation as an opportunity to settle scores. “We had a disagreement in the past, and when he found us, he didn’t hesitate to take action. It felt more like revenge than justice,” Kirimi said.

The woman involved also shared her side of the story, revealing that her husband initially appeared supportive when their relationship started. “He was polite and well-mannered in the beginning,” she said in a separate interview with TUKO.co.ke. “But he eventually convinced me to shut down my business because he didn’t believe women should work. I sold all my stock and closed shop because I trusted him.”

The details of Kirimi’s sentencing remain unclear, but his case highlights the complex interplay of personal relationships, societal expectations, and legal consequences in rural communities. Kirimi maintains his innocence and hopes that one day his story will serve as a cautionary tale about choices and the people we trust.
