A family in Kirinyaga County is seeking justice following the murder of Peninah Wambui, a 37-year-old mother of two.
Wambui, an M-Pesa operator at Mukinduri market, was found dead in her rented house in Kirinyaga Central Constituency. Her body was discovered in the sitting room under circumstances that have caused fear among residents.
Relatives believe unknown attackers gained access to her house before killing her and pouring acid on her body. The motive remains unclear, though the family suspects it was a planned attack.
The incident came to light when Wambui’s eight-year-old daughter raised the alarm at around 10 p.m. after noticing smoke inside the house.
Police officers later visited the scene, documented the incident, and moved the body to a mortuary as investigations began.
Her family has urged authorities to conduct thorough investigations and ensure those responsible face justice.
Residents described Wambui as hardworking and kind, devoted to providing for her children. They are also demanding swift action, calling on security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators as the family mourns.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the suspects to come forward and assist in the investigations.
