The governor of Nyeri, Kahiga, has reversed his prior assertion that the leadership of Mount Kenya is undesirable in the Kenya Kwanza matrix.
The leader had promised to lead the Mount Kenya region in deserting President Ruto because he believed some of his allies were plotting to discredit them.
He has since had a change of heart and stated that as the leaders of Mount Kenya, they want to keep a close relationship with the Head of State.
He claims that they are eager to collaborate with Ruto through his son of the mountain deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
After meeting with a group of the Kikuyu Council of Elders leadership, who had visited him in his offices on Tuesday, he made his remarks.
“I am happy that the elders have affirmed that they will staunchly support Dr. Ruto’s administration. Gachagua is a native of our county, and we will support him collectively “The Daily Nation quotes the county executive.
“The mountain must stay unified, and the only way we can do so is by backing Mr. Gachagua, who serves as our primary conduit to Dr. Ruto, he declared.
The elders, who were led by Dr. Eng David Muthoga, the national vice chairman of the council, reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ruto and Gachagua.
When Raila Odinga lost to Ruto for the Azimio La Umoja presidential nomination, they declared that they were no longer supporting him.
