The Kenyan Government has today broken silence with a morning powerful statement regarding extension of employment contracts for public servants.
Addressing via Head of Public Service Felix Koskei today the 5th day of December 2023, the Kenyan Government has banned extension of employment contracts for all public servants above the age of sixty years.
The Kenyan Government has intimated that the ban on extension of employment contracts for the aforementioned cohort of public servants has been orchestrated with the solemn aim of creating more job opportunities for the Kenyan youths.
“As Government we are very deliberate and clear in ensuring that the youth are mainstreamed in Government right from college up to employment. In public service, either the public service commission or public service in itself we have deliberate initiatives we have been given. One is internship where we have deliberately established an internship programme were those youths who have completed school can land and earn something. We have also made sure that we are not going to entertain any extension of contracts of people who are over sixty. We want people as they are retiring they leave their positions to the youths,” Head of Public Service Felix Koskei stated.
