The Kenyan Government has today announced new basic salaries for a section of public servants in the country.

Addressing the public via the Ministry of Interior on the 2nd day of September 2026, the Kenyan Government has announced that police officers graduating from police training colleges will now be entitled to an entry-level basic salary of Ksh 38,975.

The Kenyan Government has intimated that the new basic salary for entry-level police officers is a strategic increment from Ksh 20,390, which they were previously earning.

The Kenyan government has further announced that serving police constables will now be pocketing a basic salary of up to Ksh 57,700. The state divulged that this new basic salary is an increment from Ksh 29,296, which they were previously earning.

In addition, the Kenyan government has notified the general public that a phased remuneration review that started in the year 2024 and drew to a close in the year 2026 has delivered a salary increment for police officers of up to 40 percent for the lowest cadre officers.

The Kenyan government has emphasized the fundamental importance of the phased remuneration review for police officers, articulating that the strategic move marks one of the highest cumulative increases in police pay since Kenya gained its independence.
