Gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya was left heartbroken after the death of his brother, barely a day after sharing an intense and desperate prayer on Facebook.
In the post, Muraya said he had been pleading with God to intervene and rescue his younger brother, Joshua Muraya Kagema, who was then battling illness while admitted in an ICU bed.
Muraya later confirmed the loss of his brother in another update that has since drawn an outpouring of condolences, prayers, and grief from friends, followers, and members of the public.
According to his account, the family had been holding on to hope even as the situation deteriorated, and the singer described his brother’s medical condition as both serious and closely monitored at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Just one day earlier, Muraya had asked supporters to join him in prayer, writing that Joshua had been unwell and had been receiving treatment for about three weeks.
In that earlier message, the philanthropist urged people not to “forget” Joshua in their prayers, while also expressing faith that the outcome would be positive.
He reportedly told friends and followers that the family remained confident and believed God would intervene, invoking the biblical promise of divine healing.
In his earlier post, Muraya also reassured those praying for Joshua by referencing Jehovah Rapha, a name used in the Bible to refer to God as the healer.
He said the family expected God’s “able hand” to reach his brother and bring restoration, adding that he was certain prayers would be answered.
However, the latest update marked a sharp shift from hope to shock.
In the emotional Facebook message announcing the death, Muraya directed his words to God, speaking with urgency and emotion.
He also referenced what he described as divine healing miracles he claimed to have personally witnessed, saying he had believed similar intervention would occur in Joshua’s case.
