Nairobi woman has broken down in tears after alleging that a popular gospel singer she once dated, and deeply admired abandoned her shortly after she gave birth.
Jacky Wairimu Mureithi claims the well-known artiste withdrew all support despite earlier promises, to raise their child together, leaving her to face motherhood alone.
Speaking during an emotional interview with Njeri Mercy on Tuko Talks, Jacky, who is also a gospel singer, revealed that she decided to go public only after all attempts to reach the man and his family failed.
According to her, the silence forced her into a painful reality of raising the baby without the support she had been assured.
Jacky recounted that she first met the renowned gospel singer, Paul Mwai, in 2019. What started as a casual friendship rooted in faith gradually grew into a close relationship.
She said Mwai later expressed his intention to marry her, and the two dated for about two years. During that period, she claims the relationship was warm and supportive.
Trouble began after she visited him at his home when she learned he had fallen ill. “He had fallen sick and I went to check on him.
By the time I was leaving, I was pregnant,” Jacky recalled. She noted that although the pregnancy came as a surprise, Mwai initially promised to stand by her and support both her and the baby.
However, Jacky says everything changed after she gave birth. The once attentive partner allegedly became distant and eventually cut off communication.
Her situation worsened when the baby fell sick, as she struggled to pay for hospital bills and medication on her own after failing to reach him for help.
Seeking answers, Jacky later visited him unannounced, only to find him with another woman. The encounter shattered her emotionally.
“He accused me of neglecting him, saying that is why he found another woman,” she said through tears, describing the moment as one of deep betrayal and heartbreak.
Jacky revealed that she had always been a lover of Mwai’s music and had constantly attended worship services at his church before their relationship began.
Pushed to the limit, she went to social media after reportedly exhausting all other avenues as attempts to contact his family for assistance were futile.
“I tried calling his brother but he informed me that the singer had warned them against getting involved in the matter,” she told me.
Jacky stated that her goals were never evil and denied that she became involved with him to ruin his reputation.
The mother of two restated her decision to speak publicly, hoping that the truth would be acknowledged and her child’s well-being taken into account.
