Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday continued with his Mt Kenya region tour even as he prepares for his possible impeachment in the coming days. The country second in command has been consolidating his Mt Kenya region base after facing open rebellion from a section of leaders allied to president William Samoei Ruto.
While addressing the residents of Kirinyaga county, deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua informed President William Samoei Ruto to allow him complete his three years in office and if he wishes to drop him, he can do so in 2027. The deputy President insisted that it is time that they need to fulfill the promises that they made to the people.
He also informed lawmakers in the National Assembly not to be swayed by other unnecessary bills that will not benefit the people of Kenya. DP Gachagua said that MPs should focus on passing government bills that will benefit the people.
“I want to tell the president to allow us to work, we should work for Kenyans. We were given five years now we have completed two years, a lot of things have stalled the three years remaining we should work for Kenyans and whatever he will decide later we shall respect his decision”. DP Gachagua said.
This comes as lawmakers who are opposing DP Gachagua prepares to table an impeachment motion next week. Reports alleges that the motion has already garnered required numbers and signatures that will see Gachagua sent home. However, a section of MPs allied to Gachagua have vowed to oppose the motion.
