DCP Deputy Party Leader, Cleophas Malala, caused a stir on Saturday, August 2, when he landed in the middle of the pitch via helicopter during half-time of 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Boys’ Final.The match, which saw Musingu High School face off against St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale, was being held at the fully packed Mumias Sports Complex.
As spectators eagerly awaited the second half, a helicopter suddenly descended onto the centre of the pitch, temporarily halting proceedings.
The unexpected entrance brought the stadium to a standstill, with fans cheering and whipping out their phones to capture the moment. Security officials quickly cleared the pitch before play resumed.
Malala, a former Kakamega Senator, later joined dignitaries in the VIP stand.
His appearance was interpreted by many as a strong political statement in the heart of western Kenya, as the 2027 general elections slowly begin to take shape.
