Grief has engulfed Umoja Estate in Nakuru after the sudden death of a young woman popularly known as Zuchu, whose real name was Faith Otieno. Her lifeless body was discovered on Sunday morning inside a room at Umoja Lodge, sparking heartbreak and growing calls for justice.

According to friends, Faith had spent Saturday evening in the company of close companions at a local joint, where they were enjoying drinks. Charity Wanjiru, one of her closest friends, recalled how a man chewing muguka approached them and offered Zuchu a drink, since she didn’t partake in the stimulant. She chose to remain behind with him as the rest of the group went out for food.

Later that night, the pair was spotted again at a different entertainment spot. Witnesses say the man bought her another drink before they left together. It was the last time she was seen alive.

By morning, the devastating news broke. A lodge worker stumbled upon her body, sending shockwaves through the estate. The discovery was met with screams and tears as police cordoned off the area and collected the body for postmortem at Nakuru County Mortuary.

Friends described Faith as loving, cheerful, and always the first to help others in need. Her death has left a painful void among those who knew her.

Human rights advocate Emilly Nekesa from Smart Ladies demanded swift action, urging police to trace the man last seen with Faith and for lodge management to release all details of the individual who checked in with her.

Police say a manhunt is already underway as investigations continue.
