In the wake of a chaotic Sunday in Othaya, former State House advisor Moses Kuria has hit back at Rigathi Gachagua, dismissing claims that he played a role in the day’s disruptions.

The political atmosphere, already thick with tension, reached a boiling point this evening after Gachagua publicly linked several high-profile leaders to an alleged organized attack against him.

Addressing the media from his residence in Wamunyoro, a visibly frustrated Gachagua named Kuria, alongside Murang’a Woman Rep Betty Maina and MP Eric Wamumbi, as the primary orchestrators of the hostility he faced.

However, Kuria has been quick to take to social media to steer the narrative in a different direction.

Kuria’s response is characterized by a mix of exasperation and calculated restraint.

He has argued that the former Deputy President has developed a habit of using him as a convenient scapegoat for any political misfortune.

From local electoral losses in Mbeere to the friction witnessed today in Othaya, Kuria maintains that Gachagua is simply blaming him for everything rather than addressing the root causes of his waning influence.

“Rigathi Gachagua has yet again mentioned my name this evening associating me with violence,” Kuria has noted, emphasizing that the accusations are becoming a repetitive cycle.

Interestingly, Kuria has hinted that his response could have been much sharper had it not been for the intervention of community leaders.

He has revealed that he is currently under a bond of sorts, following counsel from elders led by veteran politician Maina Kamanda.

This suggests a behind-the-scenes effort by Mount Kenya power brokers to keep the region’s infighting from spiraling into total chaos.

For now, Kuria seems content to let the elders take the lead, though his message is clear that he wants his name kept out of Gachagua’s political battles.
