After years of languishing in the cold, on Monday, former Samburu County Women Representative Maison Leshomo made a rare public appearance when she welcomed Jubilee Party deputy leader Dr Fred Matiang’i to the county.
Dr Matiang’i is in the county to popularize his State House bid with only 17 momths remaining to the next general election.
The former interior CS is accompanied by his co-deputy party leader and former Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni.
Leshomo, who is a seasoned politician in Samburu County, served as the first ever Women Representative for two terms, the position she held since 2013 to 2022.
A key member of the former ruling Jubilee Party, she unsuccessfully ran for a third straight term in 2022 but lost to Pauline Lenguris of the United Democratic Alliance party.
Since then, the veteran politician has maintained a very low public profile, opting to make very rare appearances amid speculations on her political future.
But by joining Dr Matiang’i and the entire Jubilee Party brigade on Monday, the former MP has given a clear hint that she may be in the 2027 race.
