kinoti

On September 27, 2022, as President William Ruto announced his list of cabinet nominees, he confirmed that Directorate of Criminals Investigations boss George Kinoti had resigned.

Kinoti’s resignation came as a surprise. And so, weeks later, Mohamed Amin was confirmed as new DCI boss after a competitive recruitment exercise carried out the National Police Service.

It would later be revealed that the former powerful cop’s name, who was in the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police, would be forwarded to the Public Service Commission for redeployment.

However, almost four months later, his fate remains unknown. Was he silently assigned a new role in the President William Ruto government?

Kinoti was one of the most powerful men around the former President, Uhuru Kenyatta. But to Ruto men, he was demonized as he was accused of allegedly using his office and powers to carry out extrajudicial powers.

Under his reign as DCI chief, Kinoti was credited for restoring the faith of Kenyans on one of the most powerful institutions in the country. But his critics accuse him og using the office to settle political scores.

But after resigning from office, what became of Kinoti? Which job was he assigned by the Public Service Commission?
