It has been a busy period for the former Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Administration Police, James Kamau.
Kamau succeeded Noor Gabow as the deputy IG – AP in an acting capacity when President William Ruto made high profile police changes in July 2024.
Prior to his appointment as acting IG- AP, Kamau served as Administration Police Training College- Embakasi A campus commandant.
But with the appointment of Gilbert Masengeli as the new deputy IG- AP, Kamau was relegated to the periphery even as the AP Training College got a new commandant in former Principal Assistant to the Deputy IG-AP, Davies Lomwatu.
And now, after weeks of speculations on his future in the National Police Service, Kamau is back in style after being appointed as the new Border Police Unit Commandant.
During the visit of acting Inspector General of Police Masengeli to the North Eastern counties of Mandera and Wajir on Monday, Kamau was part of the high profile delegation that accompanied the IG and the Deputy IG- KPS Eliud Lagat.
Border Police Unit is one of the largest AP units in the country which is charged with securing Kenya’s border.
