He is one of the longest serving MPs in the country today, having been in Parliament for close to one decade.
After am eventful military career where he worked as a soldier in the Kenya Army, John Waluke plunged into the murky world of politics.
He first worked as an aide to the then cabinet minister Moses Wetangula, who served as Sirisia MP at the time.
Using his military background, he was at the heart of Wetangula’s security. But in 2007, using ODM party, the student decided to challenge the teacher.
Waluke mounted a serious campaign to oust Wetangula as Sirisia MP but lost. But five years later, the opportunity presented itself as the former occupant of the position decided to run for Bungoma County senator seat.
Without stiff opposition, Waluke was elected as Sirisia MP on an ODM party ticket.
In 2022, he was reelected for a third term as MP, making him one of the longest serving MPs in the country.
