Gachagua Dep

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is expected to leave the country tonight for the United States, in a move that has sparked mixed reactions amid rising political tensions.

Gachagua confirmed his travel plans in a statement earlier today, brushing off widespread speculation that he had been barred from leaving the country. He clarified that his trip had been planned in advance and is meant for what he termed as “private engagements and high-level meetings.”

“There is no order stopping me from traveling. I am free, and I will continue speaking the truth for the sake of the Kenyan people,” Gachagua said.

This development comes just days after he accused the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of operating a shadowy killer squad and using Subaru vehicles to instill fear among Kenyans—claims that have intensified scrutiny on the country’s security apparatus.

The timing of his departure has fueled speculation, especially among political observers, who link it to the current unrest and Gachagua’s growing criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.

Sources close to the former deputy president say he is scheduled to meet with members of the Kenyan diaspora and international leaders to discuss the state of governance and human rights in Kenya.

As protests and public dissent continue to rise, Gachagua’s trip is being closely watched, with many wondering if it signals a strategic shift in the former DP’s political ambitions.
