Former CS Susan Nakhumicha on Saturday, February 21, shared a photo from her farm, offering the public a rare glimpse into her life away from the demands of government service and international diplomacy. In the image, Nakhumicha is pictured seated on a blue tractor on freshly tilled land, dressed in practical farming attire that includes a green jacket, headscarf and gumboots.
The setting, marked by cultivated soil, trees and nearby rural homesteads, reflects an active agricultural environment and suggests a hands-on approach to farming.
Her relaxed posture and warm smile conveyed a sense of ease and personal fulfilment.
The former Health Cabinet Secretary accompanied the post with the caption, “The early bird catches the worm,” alongside the hashtag formnimama.
The message resonated widely online, drawing praise from supporters who viewed it as a reflection of discipline, preparation and a strong connection to grassroots livelihoods.
The post comes at a time when there is sustained public interest in the activities of former Cabinet members after leaving office.Beyond her farming activities, The Former CS Susan Nakhumicha has recently signalled her intention to re-enter elective politics.
Presently acting as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat, she has shown a desire to challenge Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia.
She stated that she no longer wishes to run for the Trans Nzoia Woman Representative position, which she contested in 2022 under the FORD Kenya party, where she finished in third place behind Lilian Siyoi and Phanice Khatundi.
Nakhumicha has confirmed her readiness to compete for the governorship, hinting at a potentially intense political battle in the future.
