President William Ruto announced on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the initiation of a six-day interdisciplinary dialogue summit starting on July 15. This summit is intended to address significant issues facing Kenyans.

Speaking at the KICC in Nairobi, President Ruto stated that the event will bring together representatives from political parties, religious organizations, civil society, employers, and youth. “To ensure we live within our means, all participants will cover their own attendance costs, following consultations held this morning,” Ruto explained. He also indicated that stakeholders need to nominate their representatives by the end of this week. The summit aims to pave the way forward for the nation, according to the President.

His comments came after he endorsed the IEBC (Amendment) Bill, 2024. This endorsement was influenced by suggestions from the National Dialogue Committee, which was established following the contentious 2022 presidential election results, where some IEBC commissioners called a presser and contested Ruto’s victory.
