A Kenyan woman working as a flight attendant in Dubai has shared an emotional story about a primary school teacher who secretly paid her school fees and supported her education without her knowledge.
Peris Maranga recently recalled how her teacher, Harriet, made significant sacrifices to ensure she remained in school despite her family’s financial challenges.
Maranga revealed that she joined Prosper School in Marmanet while in Standard Six. At the time, she had no idea that her parents were struggling to meet her school expenses. She believed everything was being taken care of until she later discovered that her teacher had been quietly paying her fees.
According to Maranga, Harriet took responsibility for her education and ensured she had everything she needed to continue with her studies. The teacher also went beyond her professional duties to make the young girl feel comfortable and loved while at school.
One of the memories that stood out for Maranga was how Harriet remembered her birthday every year. The teacher would arrange for a cake to be sent home, allowing her to celebrate the special occasion with her friends.
Their relationship extended beyond the classroom, with Harriet treating her like a daughter. Maranga recalled that whenever she was unhappy with the meals served at school, she would sometimes visit her teacher’s home, where she was welcomed and given something to eat.

Years later, Maranga has established herself as a flight attendant in Dubai. Looking back at her childhood, she remains grateful to the woman who believed in her and supported her when she needed it most.
