In a shocking turn of events, Swiga Mwakalobo, commonly known as Mama Lishe, a 35-year-old food vendor in Mkwawa area, Iringa Municipality, was discovered lifeless alongside her male customer, Jacob Chang’a, inside the eatery, both bodies found unclothed.
Allan Bukumbi, the Regional Police Commander of Iringa, confirmed the incident and stated that further investigations are underway. The bodies of the two were discovered on the morning of October 6, 2023, after relatives sought out Swiga, who reportedly hadn’t returned home the previous night, Sunday.
Speaking to Mwananchi, some neighbors recounted that after breaking down the door, they found the lifeless bodies within the restaurant, with a charcoal stove nearby, adorned with beans. “Just the night before, Swiga was busy with her restaurant tasks, and because she usually takes time to finish due to morning meal preparations, we had no cause for concern,” said Hamza Hamisi, Swiga’s relative.
Hamisi also mentioned that by Monday morning, they hadn’t seen Swiga, prompting neighbors to make efforts to reach her by phone, but to no avail. “That’s when we went to her restaurant and called, and we heard the phone ringing from inside the restaurant with the door locked. When we peeked inside, we saw two lifeless bodies, both unclothed,” said Ibrahim Issa, a resident of Mkwawa.
According to Issa, they decided to break down the door, only to discover that the two had already passed away. Hamis Chananja, the Chairman of Imalanongwa Street, reported that they called the police, who promptly arrived at the scene. The authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into this tragic incident.
