Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna once again demonstrated his fearless nature when he confronted President William Ruto face-to-face in Kilifi, delivering a strong message that left the crowd buzzing. Known for his sharp political rhetoric, Sifuna did not hold back as he criticized the government’s handling of economic issues and governance.

Addressing the gathering, Sifuna used the Swahili phrase “Firimbi ikipigwa, kila mtoto atacheza kwao” (When the whistle is blown, every child will play in their own yard), implying that the opposition was ready to challenge the government if necessary. He warned that Kenyans were growing impatient with unfulfilled promises and deteriorating living conditions.

“Mr. President, wananchi are tired of excuses. The cost of living is unbearable, and people can no longer afford basic needs. If things don’t change, the whistle will be blown, and everyone will have to take responsibility,” Sifuna declared.

His remarks were met with cheers from sections of the crowd, signaling growing discontent. He further challenged Ruto’s administration to stop blaming the previous government and instead focus on delivering tangible solutions.

President Ruto, in response, maintained that his government was working hard to stabilize the economy and urged leaders to offer constructive criticism rather than political theatrics.

Sifuna’s bold confrontation reflects the rising political tensions in Kenya, as opposition leaders continue to demand accountability. Whether his warning translates into action remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—he is not afraid to speak his mind.
