John Muiruri, father of 35 years old Stephen Mwangi who mysteriously died while inside the operations room of Murang’a based police station on August 5th 2025 has disclosed to the public “laughable explanation” that the boys in blue gave him, in bid to convince him that his son had tied of suicide.
While making his revelation, John Muiruri indicated that on Monday 11 August 2025, he received a call from the village elder who told him to immediately proceed to Kenol Police Station, where the officers were waiting to explain to him what had happened to his son.
Upon reaching at the station, he found an officer who works with the DCI unit, who informed him that his son had died of suicide, and that his body which was already in the mortuary had been successfully identified.
As per his remarks, the DCI officer told him that before Stephen Mwangi died, he broke into the police station unnoticed, before he sneaked into one of the offices where he locked up himself. He was told that Mwangi then tried to take away his life using a phone charging cable, but his attempt failed after the charging cable broke.
The officer then moved to add that Mwangi finally killed himself using a computer charging cable that was tied to the window grills of the same office that he had sneaked into, and his lifeless body was then taken to Murang’a Level Five Hospital mortuary.
However, according to Muiruri, he is not ready to buy the police’s story that his son hanged himself, arguing that the explanation by the officer made him feel like laughing despite the fact that he was in grief.
