A Nairobi father has publicly shared his deep disappointment after discovering troubling behavior from his househelp toward his young daughter.

Nevy Jackson, a doting parent, took to Facebook to recount what he witnessed while monitoring his home’s CCTV cameras during a workday.

According to Nevy, his daughter, Evny, was unwell on Thursday, September 25, and therefore stayed home with the family’s nanny instead of attending school.

Out of concern, he logged into the CCTV system to check on her, only to be shocked by what unfolded in the family’s garden.

Nevy explained that his household has a kitchen garden where he and his wife planted strawberries.

The fruits, he said, were meant to create fond childhood memories for their children, who enjoy the excitement of picking and eating them fresh.

He stressed that he and his wife had agreed not to eat the strawberries themselves, reserving them exclusively for their children’s enjoyment.

However, Nevy noticed an unsettling pattern—his nanny appeared to compete with the children over the fruits.

Instead of encouraging the little ones, she often ensured she was the first to enjoy the ripened strawberries.

On the day in question, the CCTV footage revealed the nanny allowing little Evny to eat only two strawberries while taking the remaining five for herself.

The child even pleaded with her to save some for her sibling, but the request was dismissed.

According to Nevy, the nanny told the girl, “Wewe kula hizi mbili sababu wewe ni mtoto, na mimi nikule hizi tano” (You eat these two because you’re a child, and I will eat these five).

The father described the incident as heartbreaking, emphasizing that the issue was not simply about fruit but about kindness, selflessness, and the nurturing role entrusted to caregivers.

He is now considering parting ways with the nanny, admitting he fears watching the entire footage in case it reveals even more concerning behavior.

“This may sound petty to some, but it’s about more than strawberries. It’s about the small sacrifices that make childhood joyful,” Nevy wrote.
