A family in Limuru, Kiambu County, is in deep mourning following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of two sisters on Sunday, May 4.

The sisters, identified as Zipporah and Grace, were returning home from church when they were fatally hit by a speeding car. A close friend who was walking with them also died on the spot, while a fourth person sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.

According to eyewitnesses, the car involved in the accident had an ‘L’ sticker, indicating it was being driven by a learner.

The vehicle was reportedly moving at a dangerously high speed when it lost control and rammed into the group of women walking by the roadside.

The tragic incident has left the community shaken, especially since the two sisters were mothers, now leaving behind young children without their caregivers.

A sister to the deceased expressed the family’s anguish, saying the loss is unbearable and has left a huge void. Local leaders and residents are calling for increased vigilance and accountability among motorists frequenting the area.

They noted that Limuru has recently become a hotspot for sightseeing and parties, with visitors often engaging in reckless driving and inappropriate behavior.

One resident lamented that speeding vehicles and public drunkenness have become common, endangering lives and exposing children to immoral behavior.

Limuru East MCA extended his condolences and urged drivers to prioritize safety, especially on roads shared with pedestrians. The driver responsible for the accident has been arrested, and the vehicle impounded for investigation.
