On May 9th during a church service in Mavueni, Kilifi County, Pastor Ezekiel Odera assured his congregation that the freezing of his 28 bank accounts by Milimani Magistrate Court as directed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations did not affect the operations of New Life Church. Pastor Odera stated that he has invested in agriculture, including rearing chickens, goats, and sheep, as well as cultivating various crops, which generated enough income to sustain him until the embargo on his accounts is lifted.

He welcomed an investigation into the source of his funds stating that it would clear up any doubts regarding his church. Pastor Odera urged his followers to continue contributing their offerings to the same frozen bank and mobile money accounts and even encouraged them to give more. He promised to use the funds collected from his other projects to continue with various construction projects at his Mavueni Church.

His accounts were frozen for 30 days on accusations of money laundering. Lawyers Danstan Omar and Cliff Ombeta disputed the claims and criticized the DCI for moving the case to Nairobi instead of Shanzi Law Courts which had jurisdiction over the matter. They also revealed that the televangelist struggled to pay legal fees after his accounts were frozen.

Renowned preacher Paul MacKenzie has been a man on the headlines in the past few weeks after he was exposed for allegedly convincing his church members and followers to fast to death after which he buried them in secret.

In a news report that has been shared by a reliable source of information, it has been reported that the pastor Paul MacKenzie was arrested by police officers in Kilifi several weeks ago over bodies found at Shakahola, his wife was also arrested.

In the latest news on the matter, it has been reported that the Court has refused to release pastor MacKenzie. While reacting to his action, Kenyans who took to their different social media accounts to express their feelings on the matter have urged the Court to lock the suspects until investigations are done to avoid any interference with ongoing investigations.
