Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has responded to Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu’s claims that he was responsible for the hostile reception she received at Natalie Githinji’s Endometriosis Warriors event held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Speaking on Monday, Omondi clarified that no politicians were invited or allowed to take the stage. He explained that organisers had issued clear instructions at the entrance barring politicians from speaking so that the conversation would remain centred on endometriosis awareness and Natalie Githinji rather than politics.
Omondi noted that politicians had previously indicated they would support the event but ultimately did not provide the expected backing. He stressed that the organisers never wanted any diversion of attention from the core issue of endometriosis and the women living with the condition. “We had given orders kwa gate, no politicians because they would divert conversation, and it was about endometriosis and Natalie,” he said.
Addressing Nyamu specifically, Omondi said she had contacted him earlier expressing interest in supporting Githinji and later sent KSh 100,000. However, she did not inform him of any intention to attend or speak. He questioned her decision to appear in person after the no-politicians rule had already been set.
The remarks came after Nyamu alleged that Omondi and the event’s MC had instructed sections of the crowd to chant “Wantam” when she took the stage. Omondi rejected any suggestion that the event was meant for political messaging, insisting the focus stayed on raising awareness about endometriosis.
