Kenyans are mourning after emotional scenes unfolded at the burial of Ohangla musician Tony Ndiema, where his close friend and fellow artist Prince Indah broke down in tears while paying his final respects. Videos from the event show a visibly heartbroken Prince Indah struggling to compose himself as he addressed mourners gathered to send off the late singer.

Tony Ndiema, whose real name was Anton Okoth Ochieng, died while receiving treatment at Oasis Hospital in Kisii after battling a mysterious illness that left him unable to speak and walk. His death sent shockwaves through the Luo music industry, with fellow musicians and fans expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a talented performer.

Prince Indah, who had stood by Tony Ndiema throughout his illness, was among the celebrities who confirmed his passing and later led tributes celebrating his legacy. In the days leading up to the burial, Indah organized candlelight vigils and appealed to fans for support, helping raise more than one million shillings for the family. He also performed heartfelt musical tributes during memorial gatherings held in his friend’s honor.

 

At the burial itself, the grief proved overwhelming. Witnesses described Prince Indah as unable to hold back tears while bidding farewell to a man he considered a brother in the music fraternity. Other artists including Suzanna Owiyo and Emma Jalamo were also present, joining fans in celebrating the life and contribution of the late Ohangla star.

Tony Ndiema’s death remains a painful loss for the Ohangla music scene, and his memory continues to live on through the tributes pouring in from across the country.
