Emotional scenes unfolded in Kiribwet, Narok County, as body of the late Victor, a KDF recruit who tragically died during training at the Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, arrived at his home on Tuesday morning for burial.Victor, whose untimely death shocked his family and community, was welcomed with tears and mourning as relatives, friends, and neighbours gathered to pay their respects.

Many described the moment as one of immense grief and heartbreak, reflecting the heavy loss felt by those close to him.

The young recruit had joined the KDF with dreams of serving his country, but tragedy struck during his training.

While the circumstances surrounding his death are still being investigated, the community has come together to support his family during this difficult time.

KDF, in a statement issued last Friday, stated that the recruits developed medical complications while participating in a routine endurance exercise.

They were immediately attended to by on-site medical personnel and later evacuated to Eldoret Regional Hospital for advanced care.The family said the government should come out and clarify details surrounding the death of the son, whom they maintained was a healthy, ambitious young man.

Local leaders and residents expressed condolences, emphasizing the sacrifice made by young Kenyans who join the national defence forces.

“It is a painful moment for the family and the entire community. Victor was young, full of potential, and his loss is deeply felt,” said a local elder.

The KDF has expressed its condolences to the family, reiterating its commitment to the welfare of recruits and ensuring that proper procedures are followed during training.
