Koross Oscar has achieved a milestone he once believed was out of reach, From the quiet slopes of Katries in Kenya to earning a place in the US Army.

Oscar relocated to the United States in 2017, initially chasing his dream as a professional runner. Like many young Kenyans seeking opportunity abroad, he began his journey on the track, determined to make a name for himself.

However, life gradually redirected his path. After settling in the US, he made the bold decision to shift gears and enlist in the military — a move that required discipline, resilience, and intense physical training.

Following the transition, Oscar enrolled in military training, which he described as both fair and physically demanding.

His hard work paid off when he officially joined the US Army, marking a proud and transformative moment in his life.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, he shared a photo of himself in uniform, standing tall but visibly emotional as he reflected on the journey.

“I’m standing here today, beaming with pride, honour and gratitude,” he wrote. “I never thought I’d wear this uniform.”

For Oscar, the achievement carries deep personal meaning. He says he is following in his father’s footsteps, determined not only to honour his father’s legacy but to elevate it.

Wearing the uniform symbolises both the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and the continuation of a story that began long before him.

Yet even amid celebration, there is sorrow. Oscar expressed sadness that his parents are no longer alive to witness the milestone.

“With this pride comes sadness,” he admitted. “My parents aren’t here to see this day, and that hurts. Papa and Mama, I did it again!”

Friends and relatives flooded his social media page with congratulatory messages, applauding his perseverance and determination.

His journey from Katries to the US Army stands as a testament to resilience, ambition, and the enduring power of family legacy.
