The Kalenjin community and the entire media fraternity are in deep mourning following the tragic death of Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ngeno on February 28, 2026.

A video from the popular Kalenjin radio station, Chamgei FM, has surfaced, capturing the raw pain felt by journalists who had to deliver the shocking news to millions of listeners.

In the viral clip, a female reporter is seen having a very difficult time reading the news bulletin that confirmed the sudden passing of the man many considered a hero.

Her voice was visibly shaking and filled with emotion as she struggled to find the strength to explain the details of the chopper crash that occurred in the Chepkiep area of Nandi County.

The weight of the news seemed too much for her to handle. It was a rare and heartbreaking moment for the audience, who are used to her firm and steady reporting style.

It wasn’t just the news reader who was affected; another fellow media personality in the room was spotted with their head laid down on the desk in total despair.

This person seemed completely overwhelmed, unable to look at the microphone or the script as the reality of the loss sank in.

This scene has moved many Kenyans who understand just how close the late MP was to the local media and his people at the grassroots.

Johanna Ngeno, who was serving his third term, was a frequent guest on these stations and was loved for his bold speeches. His death, alongside his photographer Nick Kosgei and four others, has sent deep shockwaves across the country.

Leaders like Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and CS for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen have sent their condolences.

For the journalists who worked closely with Ngeno, the loss feels very personal, turning a busy newsroom into a place of silence and tears.
