A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Mombasa after the missing daughter of a well-known millionaire tycoon was found dead in her apartment under unclear circumstances.

The young woman, who had been missing for several days, was discovered lifeless in her private residence in the upscale Nyali area. According to neighbors, there had been a strong foul smell coming from her apartment for days before they raised the alarm.

Police were called in on Monday evening and broke into the apartment only to find her decomposing body. Sources close to the family said she had been battling a high fever before she went missing. It is believed that she may have died alone in her room shortly after falling ill.

“She had not been seen for some days, and when we checked, we found her phone off. That’s when we knew something was wrong,” said a family friend who requested not to be named.

The body was found in a terrible state, indicating it had been there for several days. Police said some parts of the body had already decomposed, making it difficult to immediately determine the exact cause of death.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are now handling the case. The body was taken to Coast General Hospital mortuary for a postmortem to establish what led to her death. Investigators did not rule out the possibility of foul play but also pointed out there were no visible injuries.

Mombasa County Police Commander said they are waiting for the autopsy results to guide the next steps in the investigation.

The deceased was the only daughter of a prominent Mombasa businessman known for his large real estate and hotel investments. Family members, who were visibly heartbroken, described her as a humble and caring person.

“She was full of life, loved by many, and always stayed away from trouble,” said a close family member.

The news has shocked many across the city, with messages of condolence pouring in on social media. Investigations are ongoing to uncover exactly what happened.
